Occupy! encampments began sprouting up throughout the state of Maine starting in October, 2011. In Portland, activists maintained one of the longest running camps in the country before being peacefully evicted from Lincoln Park after more than five months of nonviolent, radical community-building. In the months since, the Occupy Maine community has continued to be at the forefront of the struggle to liberate our society from the vice grip of multinational corporations and has organized tirelessly to secure access to education and healthcare for all.
