Rockabilly is a modern-day recreation of the pin-up look that is a music style and often associated with the burlesque. In addition to having things in common with pin-up style, rockabilly also favors cherries, animal print, roses, and sugar skull patterns for clothes and purses. Sparrows, bows, roses, stars, sugar skulls, casino- and nautical-themed accessories are also popular.

Next, brush hair smooth in the back area. Backcomb the interior for extra volume and keep the surface smooth. Create soft curls with a medium barrel iron. Curl hair from the mid-length through to ends in a horizontal fashion. Set curls using pin curl clips until all hair is curled. Allow hair to cool, then release curls and allow to fall softly. If you have detangling spray on hand, you’ll want to apply your product before styling to make sure your hair is free of any knots. Once your product has been applied, start by parting your hair off to the side. Next, grab the piece of hair you plan to roll, and gently backcomb the section to get some extra volume.

The dress is lovely and it fits perfectly. The packaging was presentable. I am 5'3" @ 143 lbs and I purchased the white polka-dot dress (medium). The quality of the dress is ok, however, it is a bit transparent. I may have to get a lining inside it in the future, but for now, I will have to just wear things underneath in order to not expose my underwear. Ok, so the night before the function I tried ironing it. I had to iron multiple times due to the fact I had no spray starch. On the day when I got ready the dress fit snug to my body just the way I wanted, however on arriving the event my dress was a bit roomy. Honestly, this look can work for anyone! Since I used a “fauxnytail”, the look will work for anyone who has long enough hair in the front for a roll (about chin-length at least) because it needs to be able to be pulled up into some sort of bun. It really should work with any face shape and be flattering because the placement of the ponytail adds volume which is complimentary to most faces.

My friend and I are in a vintage girl band called Diamond Darlings. When we first started out, we wanted to conduct a photo shoot in order to use the pictures for our publicity materials, such as our business cards and our website. Luckily my uncle is a professional photographer so we enlisted his help to take vintage style photos of us on our local beach and harbor. Although I wouldn't technically call it a pinup photo shoot, we definitely had elements of pinup girl glamour within our snaps. We even managed to use items that were already in our wardrobes so we didn't have to spend a ton of money on costumes and props.
While nylon was first invented in 1935, the use of this fabric finally made its way to swimsuits in the 1950s. Most were made with sweetheart necklines. Many featured bold patterns with florals being especially popular. Women who did not feel like they were full enough, had many choices in swimwear with padded cups. Those who did not have quite the perfect beach body found choices with ruching either down the sides or in the front. Most swimsuits had a little skirt in the front or all the way around. Shape the front of the roll as needed, make sure to bobby pin the roll from the inside out, and spray well with hairspray. Repeat step #3 and #4 with the other side, and your rolls are done!
