Pin up curls seem to look like the classic Hollywood ones, but they have some differences. The first ones should look cold, tight, and shiny, if following the path of our stylish predecessors without any changes. The Hollywood curls represents a light variant of pin up style, and so they don’t need firm setting styling or a lot of time. However, we suppose that every girl, who adores those Hollywood waves, will like the pin up curls as well!

A pin-up model (known as a pin-up girl for a female and less commonly male pin-up for a male) is a model whose mass-produced pictures see wide appeal as popular culture. Pin-ups are intended for informal display, i.e. meant to be "pinned-up" on a wall. Pin-up models may be glamour models, fashion models, or actors. These pictures are also sometimes known as cheesecake photos.[a] Cheesecake was an American slang word, that was considered a publicly acceptable term for seminude women because pin-up was considered taboo in the early twentieth century.[1]
My friend and I are in a vintage girl band called Diamond Darlings. When we first started out, we wanted to conduct a photo shoot in order to use the pictures for our publicity materials, such as our business cards and our website. Luckily my uncle is a professional photographer so we enlisted his help to take vintage style photos of us on our local beach and harbor. Although I wouldn't technically call it a pinup photo shoot, we definitely had elements of pinup girl glamour within our snaps. We even managed to use items that were already in our wardrobes so we didn't have to spend a ton of money on costumes and props.
I just tried this dress on to check the size and see how it fits. It's so lovely! The fabric is lightweight, super soft and very sophisticated. The collar has just the right amount of stiffness so it stands up on it's own and the gathering coming down from the collar is a lovely detail. The bodice is quite fitted but comfortable as the fabric has a bit of stretch. I'm 91/71/94 and the size 8 fit me perfectly. Overall it's a lovely dress and great value for the price.
Rockabilly and pin-up are two separate styles. They are often mistaken for each other, as these two are distinguished with bright makeup, colorful clothes, and mysterious smiles. However, rockabilly was formed later, under the influence of rock-n-roll, as this music genre demanded a new way to self-expression. Thus, rockabilly can be called a son of pin up, which inherited the bright colors and free behavior from its mother, but added a bit of sass, tattoos, and insane dancing into its style. If you recognize yourself in this description – rockabilly was definitely created for you!

La Femme Noir leans goth, with a lot of lace, coffin accessories, and body-hugging, well, everything. Honestly, this look can work for anyone! Since I used a “fauxnytail”, the look will work for anyone who has long enough hair in the front for a roll (about chin-length at least) because it needs to be able to be pulled up into some sort of bun. It really should work with any face shape and be flattering because the placement of the ponytail adds volume which is complimentary to most faces.
It’s been a couple of decades since the full leather look has been a trend but this is one spring vintage fashion trend that’s making a comeback. So, make sure you have a leather look in your wardrobe to add some vintage inspired appeal into your spring and summer days. If the all-black-leather look doesn’t pull at your retro heartstrings, switch things up for a colorful alternative.
The products I like to use are by White Sands. They have an amazing heat setting pump spray (which we apply to each section before curling with the irons) and aerosol finishing spray (used to set the finished style in place”. Their products are incredible as they can hold curl in even the most fine slippery hair. White Sands products are not sticky, they do not flake, and they can easily be brushed out and restyled with ease. Their price point is on the higher end of the scale, however we all know the rule about cheap vs expensive when it comes to cosmetic products.
Who doesn’t love a cute colorful flower in vintage styled hair? Match a tropical flower with your victory rolls, match your flower pins with your dresses or better with your shoes and create some really cool outfits. The list of accessories you can rock is endless: sunglasses, hair bows, cute hand bags, bandanas, old school jewelry. Rose Hair Clip There are many more types of clothes you can wear to channel your inner pin up girl: you should totally give playsuits a try. They are fun, suitable for summer and not only for going to the beach. You can get really creative with rompers: nautical, leopard, floral, striped. Pair your romper with a matching bandana, chunky pearls and big earrings. Wear peep toe shoes and a cute bowler bag with it and you’re ready to go! The most important piece of advice for anyone wanting to rock the victory roll is to embrace the backcombing! There needs to be a lot of great backcombing, held with strong hold hairspray. Do this in small sections for the best results, smooth the outside with pomade ,and hide those bobby pins. This means that even girls with thin hair can get involved!
